Viewing records or instances in a Collection
Collection and Record Display
The list of records contained in a Collection is displayed in the View area in the upper panel of the screen. The highlighted record's data is displayed in the Form area in the bottom panel of the screen. To create a new record with a blank form, click the New button. If you want to edit a record, go to the Form section and click on the field that you want to edit and start editing.

Pagination
The records list by default displays up to 25 records per page. To change the number of records displayed per page (25, 50, 75, 100, 150, or 200 records), use the drop down list to the left of the Refresh View icon.

The range of records currently displayed and the total number of records can be seen to the right of the Refresh View icon. If the total is followed by a plus sign, this indicates that more records are being retrieved. In this case, navigating through the pages of records will retrieve the additional records.
To navigate through multiple pages of records, use the pagination buttons to access the First Page, Previous Page, Next Page, and Last Page of records. The go to First and Previous Page buttons are disabled when viewing the first page of records. Similarly, the Last and Next Page buttons are disabled when viewing the last page of records.

Layouts
Layouts allow users to change the way information is displayed in the Collection tabs. Coghead supports four different layouts: horizontally split, vertically split, form only layout, and record only layout. A layout can be selected by clicking on the image of the layout located above the pagination buttons.

- The horizontally split layout is set up to show the list of a Collection’s records in the upper panel and the Form area in the lower panel. This is the default layout for Coghead Applications.
- The vertically split layout shows the list of a Collection’s records in the left side panel and the Form area in the right side panel. This layout lets the user to see more saved records at once than they would be able to see using the horizontally split layout.
- The form only layout only shows the form area and does not show the list of records for the Collection. A user can navigate between records using the Previous and Next buttons located on the view bar. The current record number and total number of records for the Collection are located to the right of these navigation buttons.

- The record list only layout shows only the list of records in a Collection and does not display the form area. This layout is useful when viewing information for a large number of records at once however a user cannot create or edit records in this layout.
Views
A Collection may have multiple Views available. Each view can display different columns in the records list or different selections of records. (For example, the default View may display all Shipment records while another View displays only records with a specific status).
The default or pre-defined View is named "<Collection name> View" (for example, for the Shipment Collection, the default View is named Shipment View).
The current View name is displayed in large letters just before the layout buttons. To select an alternate view, click on the arrow right next to the name of the active View to see a drop down list of available views and click on the desired View name.

Currently, only the Author of an Application can create a new View or edit existing Views. The Author can specify which columns and records are displayed as well as which fields should be displayed in the Form.
