Integrate with other applications
Thank you for pointing this out. Currently, you can integrate to any application on Coghead that you have permissions to via 2 methods:
1) Using a combo box or grid which references another application data
2) Using Actions which can use the Save, Retrieve, and Delete operations on collection data in applications
We will work quickly to add some documentation on this. I will post once it is available.
We have the ability to integrate with other applications that are web service enabled which are not part of the Coghead platform (such as salesforce.com); however, we have disabled this capability during the beta program.
A slew of integration features are currently in development. We'd love to hear more details about the kinds of things people are interested in getting at from inside Coghead, eg web services vs rest, rss feeds, other favorite hosted applications, desktop apps, or more traditional inside-the-firewall systems...
Let us know!
My interest is to use Coghead applications as "front-ends" to legacy and packaged applications.
Legacy:
1. Many legacy applications with which I work are starting to support Service Oriented Architecture. These could be accessed through an Enterprise Service Bus or directly.
2. Legacy applications can be on either traditional mainframes, traditional minicomputers, traditional client-server, or early Web applications.
3. If SOA is available, then I will want to take advantage of that. Otherwise, I may wish to go to directly to the remote Oracle, DB2, or Microsoft SQL Server databases.
Packages: Some potential packages might be like from Quicken ---either interface to their Web offering or interface to a local area network instance.
Please also keep in mind that from within Coghead, I may wish to interface "at the same time" to a number of these previously mentioned applications.
One main concern is the difficulty of accomplishing single signon. But, it needs to be optional. Some applications owners and my applications may require multiple signons.
And additional concern in the security arena is the whole issue of being HIPAA compliant. I do not yet know enough about the direction of Coghead to determine my strategy for using Coghead with respect to these more "advanced applications".
Please let me know if you wish more details.
Thank you for asking for feedback.
I'm reviewing Coghead for my Web 2.0 blog, but I absolutely need web services (REST or SOAP) enabled. In a pinch I could work with RSS/Atom. Otherwise I won't be able to complete the review.
When do you think you might have web service orchestration enabled?
Regards,
shaw
I have noted your request in our feature tracking system.
Curious - are you interested in the Paypal integration in order to charge your customers for services that they sign up for, and you manage in a Coghead application? It would be helpful to understand the exact usecase.
Thanks for the feedback!
For more information on our integration plans please see dkearns' forum post many flavors of integration. Thanks.
One of the Support" pages of the Coghead Web site states that "examples to integrate with other applications can be found in the User Guide". I do not see these examples in the User Guide. Can someone point me to documentation that illustrates this integration? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
